Sacrament of Confirmation
While Baptism is the gateway into the Catholic faith, the Sacrament of Confirmation affirms your commitment to your faith and renews your baptismal promises before your First Holy Communion. In this sacred sacrament, you are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, administered by the Bishop or his delegate.
When is Confirmation Offered?
Confirmation is typically offered to baptised children in Year Three (Grade 3), when they turn eight years old. Children participate in a special children's programme that prepares them to receive this important sacrament.
Your Confirmation Sponsor
You receive Confirmation with the help of a sponsor—someone you choose to guide you into the faith and ready you to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Your sponsor must be a practicing Catholic, and is often your Godparent from your Baptism. This person walks alongside you on your faith journey as you prepare for this meaningful commitment.
